CICash.. Another steady Income area...
01.25.04 (5:56 pm) [edit]
Okay, so we spent a few days going through the basics of eBay Income.
Now, let's turn our attention to another great area for producing an online income.. Affiliate Marketing.
With affiliate marketing, you DON'T need any money up front. You DON'T need a web site. You DO need to spend some time on it though.
While there are several sources for picking up various affiliate programs to market, I use ClickBank for mine.
Why? Well, I like the fact that once I'm "on a roll," I get a check of some kind finding it's way to my mailbox every couple of weeks.
Commission Junction, and others pay once a month, and have higher "payout" limits than ClickBank.
At any rate, over the next few days we'll take a look at affiliate marketing/income in our new series I shall call...
TA-DA... "Affiliate Income" (Spiffy, huh?)
In the mean time, you might want to check out a VERY highly recommended book..
The Super Affiliate Handbook by Rosalind Gardner.
Best book I've ever read on the subject!

CICash... eBay Income PART VI
01.24.04 (5:52 pm) [edit]
Well so far we've taken you through the process of researching you product, finding out which category it will most likely get the most bids in.
We've looked at photographing your product, writing your ad, and pricing.
BAM.. You've got a bid. What next?
Well, a good thing to do would be to come back down out of the clouds, and get ready for the final ticks of the clock! :)
You could get your item packed up & ready to go, and that would give you a head start. Just don't seal the package until you find out where it's going. You might wish to do like I often do, and include a copy of eBay's final sales report within the package.
Even though eBay will contact the winning bidder for you, I always want to follow up myself with an email, and a reminder of payment options.
When I notify the winning bidder, I also advise that as quickly as they pay for the item, I'll be leaving them with positive feedback. I also ask that they do the same for me once they've had a chance to examine their purchase.
What do you do next?
Well, depending upon how well your auction did, you may wish to find another like item, and DO IT AGAIN! Especially if there was more than one bidder on the item.
At any rate, once you've put that auction up, you SHOULD start looking at the next one. You could have lots of the "up front" work out of the way, photos and ads written, etc.
Next, it's just a matter of logging in to you account, and uploading the next item up for bids.
Hope you've found this little series helpful.
As always, if you have questions, please feel free to contact me. pegeler AT glorymountain DOT com

CICash.. eBay Income PART V..
01.22.04 (6:28 pm) [edit]
So you've picked out something to sell, researched eBay to find out which category it fits into for the most hits.
You've taken your photos and picked out what you're going to use, and you've got your auction ad written out and ready to go.
Hopefully, you've gotten a copy of VAdPro which contains everything you need to setup a "spiffy" looking auction ad.
Next.. Where do I start the bidding?
Well, when you did your research, you surely noticed what kind of bids the others were getting. You can use that as a guide.
I usually start my low, and DO NOT put a reserve on it if I don't need to. And, if I notice that similar products are going for $XX amount, I might start my auction just a few dollars below current bidding, so I can re-coup any investment I've made.
Remember, if you can afford to start your auction at a price that's UNDER $10.00, it will only cost you 30¢ for the ad, and 25¢ for the photo. Your total cost is just 55¢ for the whole shooting match!
Now you've got the basics.. GO GET 'EM. :)
We'll look at more next time.

CICash.. eBay Income PART IV
01.21.04 (6:58 pm) [edit]
So far, we've taken a look at how to select a category for you auction items, and how to take your photos. (Glad to see that SOME of you downloaded the FREE book.)
Now, let's get into setting up your actual auction ad.
Remember, if you're new to this, and you're not an HTML "Whiz," you might want to pick up a copy of Robbin Tungett's VAdPro ad production software. VERY inexpensive, and VERY easy to use!
First.. your headline. Short, factual, KEYWORDS.
BAD.. "Collectible Teapot" No much in this to draw any attention to your auction.
GOOD.. "Hall's Collectible Teapot. Rare Aqua" Now, you've got plenty of information to give a serious collector that might be searching for teapots.
1) It's a "Hall" 2) It's a RARE Hall teapot. 3) It's a RARE Hall teapot, AQUA in color.
The word "RARE" adds excitement, drama, and it's an attention getter. From there, we can see that your teapot is a highly collectible Hall teapot, aqua in color.
Now you've managed to grab attention of Hall Pottery collectors. And, you've alerted them to the fact that you have a RARE AQUA Hall teapot.
Next, the BODY of your auction ad:
Keep your ad factual. It DOES NOT have to be filled with a bunch of air in an attempt to make it a long ad.
As Sgt. Joe Friday used to say.. "Just the facts, Mam'"
"This auction is for a rare Aqua colored Hall Teapot in the Alladin style.
The teapot is in excellent condition, with no cracks, chips or crazing.
This teapot was manufactured in 19XX by Hall, and is one of only XXX manufactured that year.
Payment is accepted by PayPal, cashiers check, or U.S. Postal Money Order. Shipping is via USPS/UPS, winning bidder's choice.
Please contact me BEFORE you bid if you have any questions."
As you can see, the above ad pretty well covers all of the bases.
You'll want to include 1 or 2 photos. One taken at a slight angle to add a little interest to the object, and perhaps a photo of the bottom of the teapot to show the "Hall" stamp.
I sold an Alladin teapot last year for REAL. Black, with a white top. Final price.. $100.00.
Good product, good pictures, straight talk in my ad, and a done-deal.
As always, if you have questions, please feel free to contact me.
And, don't forget to grab a copy of Robbin's software, VAdPro
It will save you TONS of time. (Plus, you can try it FREE for a few auctions. But, with a cost of UNDER $20, it would pay you to grab a copy.)
$ $ $ $ $
See you next time.

CICash... eBay Income.. PART III
01.18.04 (4:27 pm) [edit]
Last time, we went over how to select your product category.
Now that you've decided on that, it's time to make your auction ad. But, before you start writing, you need to make sure you've got your photo(s) ready to go.
Now, you DON'T need some fancy digital camera to make photos for eBay. In fact, if you're daughter's got a $19.95 "Barbie" digital, that is more than good enough to do the trick.
You see, eBay can only handle so much "quality" in a picture. And, for the most part you can do just fine with a low-dollar camera. You can find some inexpensive ones at your local Wal-Mart store.
Use contrasting backgrounds when you take your photos.
In other words, don't shoot a dark photo against a dark colored background. Stay away from pure white too, unless you're shooting without a flash.
Let me make it easy for you to understand what I'm talking about as far as photos for eBay are concerned.
As a reader of this blog, I'm going to GIVE YOU a copy of my book, Ebay Photos. It's a FREE download, and is available here: eBay Photos
Sorry, it's not available for Mac users.
And, you'll want to pick up some photo software so that you can manipulate your picture a bit. Cut down the size, lighten it, etc.
Do a search for "photo software" and you should be able to come up with some pretty good stuff.. FREE.
Once you've got your picture ready, then you can start on your ad.
Don't forget, the EASIEST, SIMPLE TO USE software is a program called VAdPro from Robbin Tungette.
VAdPro is VERY inexpensive, and you can try it out for no cost. It would be a smart thing to go to the site and download the free trial version.
I couldn't do without mine! Saves me a TON of time and effort. I can usually do my ad now in UNDER 5-minutes.
Next time, we'll take a look at writing your ad!

CICash.. eBay Income PART II
01.17.04 (6:02 pm) [edit]
I want to give you a little more background on what I said last post about where to put your ads.
Putting your auctions up in the CORRECT category can make all the difference in the world when it comes to the final sale price.
And, sometimes the most obvious category, Ain't necessarily so!
Here's what I mean.
From time to time, I sell AOL CD's on eBay. (Yup, the FREE ones!)
There are two different categories to list them under.
1) Under computer software. 2) Under collectibles.. advertising.
So, how do I know where to put my auction? Simple, I check by doing a general search for AOL CDs, check out the ones with bids, and see which of the above categories it's posted under.
In this case, the sales may vary from week to week, so I put my offering in the category that's currently pulling the most bids! :)
Here's another example.
Let's say you've got some old T-Shirts. Not in bad shape, but they don't fit YOUR shape! :)
You could sell them under a clothing category, OR, you could sell them as a collectible!
Collectible? YES. A 5-year-old "Michael Jackson" tour shirt could be worth a bundle right now.
I even have an old sweat shirt that has a logo on the front for the Raiders that might be worth something to someone. That's the Los Angeles Raiders!
Items with company logos are big collectible sellers too.
So you see, just about anything you have right now can be sold on eBay. Just put it in the right slot, and you're off and running!

CICash.. eBay Income.. PART I
01.16.04 (2:44 pm) [edit]
Okay, so as promised, we're going to start laying out information to help you profit on eBay.
Best thing about eBay is, you can start for as little as 30¢ for an item you start bids for at under $9.99. If you ad a picture, it'll cost you another 25¢ for a total expense of 55¢.
By the way.. a photo in your ad is a REAL attention getter. It's well worth the extra quarter.
Two things you should have to get started.
1) Something to sell. :) 2) A good auction ad lay-out.
I'll tell you about the ad lay-out in a minute, but right now, let's concern ourselves with the product.
Look around your home. What DON'T YOU NEED ANYMORE?
A few books? A power tool? Some knick-knacks? An old tea pot? Some out-grown clothing? (Kids is best!)
YOU have something that you don't want, but someone else will buy!
Don't believe me? Go to eBay now, and in the search box put the name of your item, and hit the search button. SURPRISE!
Now keep this in mind.. it DOESN'T MATTER how many ads there are for the same item. You can still sell yours if you pay attention.
If you see your item listed, click on the auctions that have received bids.
1) Look at the top, above the auction ad, and see what category the item is listed under, and the category number.
2) Do this with EVERY auction like your item that has bids as many times these people list in different categories. See WHICH CATEGORY is drawing the most bids. That's where you place YOUR item.
Now, if you don't think you have a good grasp on what I've just told you, I'll help you out.
Send me an email, tell me what it is you want to sell, and I'll do some quick research for you. (ONE TIME ONLY)
You must include your name, the item you have, any info you can give about it.. (Age, condition, color, etc.), and a VALID eMAIL ADDRESS!
Remember.. I research for you one time, no charge.
Okay? Then CLICK HERE
$ $ $ $ $
Now while I'm doing your research for you, YOU need to be working on your auction ad.
Layout is important. Correct spelling is a MUST, so be sure to check that carefully too.
One of the very best tools you can own, is a program written by my friend Robbin Tungett.. It's called VAdPro
VAdPro comes with several templates you can use. You can adjust fonts, font colors, background colors, etc., and include up to 4 photos!
Best of all, you can try VAdPro FREE. (It is NOT an expensive program, and very simple to use.)
Okay?
I'll be waiting to do your research for you, so get that product idea to me right away. And, download the VAdPro from Robbin so you can start working on your auction ad.

Well, I finally took the plung! I've started a Google AdWords campaign to see if I could boost my various business interests.
It's really too early to tell what will happen in my estimation, since I just started it a few hours ago. But, I'll let it play out for a few days, tune, refine, and see what comes out in the wash.
No big bucks involved either. I set a very LOW limit on what I am willing to spend, and I'm still getting some action.

Both online, and off line business owners always seem to over look the most basic, free form of great traffic building there is.. the PRESS RELEASE.
Even though your business may be strictly internet based, if it's a unique or niche business, there's still a very good chance that a good PR piece will assist you in drawing targeted traffic to your site.
So when you're looking for that little "edge" to help you get the word out, don't forget the Press Release.
It can do wonders for your business!

In case you hadn't heard, I believe there are 3 MAJOR means of creating an income online.
1) eBay.
2) Affiliate Programs.
3) Your own materials (ebooks, reports, programs, etc.)
Success on eBay? A matter of researching to find out where your auction belongs.
Success in affiliate marketing? DON'T build a page crammed full of options. Your reader will just get confussed, and leave. Stick to your "big gun" profit maker, branch out later.
Your own materials? Think about it. You either know something (information) or you've DONE something that is useful to others. Write a report, write an ebook, write a program.. AND SELL IT.
